On the main floor of downtown’s histories McLeod Building, Hundred Bar & Kitchen has risen phoenix-like out of the ashes of two failed sports bars. It is a fancy, high-ceilinged place, dressed in black wood, stone and burgundy leather banquettes, tall stools and some hidey-holes for those who wish not to be seen. Wrapped chandeliers hang from the ceiling.
The dress code is smart casual: it’s a perfect place for a pre-show drink, some tapas and a solid meal with upper-end prices. The menu is a playful take on tapas, where small and varied portions will eventually make up a full dining experience. Kudos go out to the Kobe beef sliders and Adult Tater Tots filled with bacon and cheddar cheese, while the Banana Creamsicle dessert is to die for.
